Chris Kelly Fighting For Consumer Protection by Advertising on Blockshopper.com

There are a lot of people that are pissed off that Blockshopper.com uses their personal information for profit. Chris Kelly is not one of them, he obviously wants you to give up all control over your personal information.
If you don’t live in California, you probably don’t know who Chris Kelly is. He is currently running for Attorney General against Kamala Harris and four others. I mention Kamala because there are a lot of TV ads sparing the two over privacy. Chris Kelly worked for Facebook and help design the Facebook privacy policy.
I was writing another post about blockshopper.com and I ran across this:

Notice anything funny?
I see a big ass ad for Chris Kelly with the tag line “FIGHTING CRIME PROTECTING CONSUMERS”
What makes it ironic is that it is on Blockshopper.com, a website that uses your personal information for profit and doesn’t let you opt-out. I guess you can look at it two ways. Either he is trying to target the people that go to Blockshopper.com and then get pissed their information has been stolen, hoping to get their vote. Or, more likely, he has no idea that his banner ad is there.
Of course it is the later because he just posted a note on moveon.org’s Facebook fanpage his privacy concerns
I urge you to join me in changing your Facebook status to “Facebook: Privacy is a right, not personal preference. Stop sharing my information without my opt-in approval http://j.mp/RespectPrivacy”
