2010 is the year you should start video blogging. I know I am. Today I got a Creative Vado 3rd Generation Pocket Cam. I’ve been trying to get a pocket cam since early December 2009, but the one I wanted was all sold out (Kodak zi8). Luckily Creative released the 3rd gen of the Vado in America shortly after Christmas. I canceled my order for the Zi8 and bought the Vado.

The feature I looked for most was the external microphone jack. When I vlog I want to have a microphone close to me. My office has bad acoustics and it sounds like I’m in a bathroom.

Overall the Vado is really easy to use and I’ve been using it a lot. Already have a an hour of my baby playing. It’s is really small, light and easy to carry around with you.

When I was doing my research on pocketcams, the biggest complaint that I saw for the Vado was the sensitive buttons and the gloss finish attracts fingerprints. In my opinion both are not a problem. I can hardly see any fingerprints on the case and the button are sensitive, but not to the point where it causes problems while shooting videos. When the camera is in playback mode, you will hit the play button by mistake when reaching into your pocket, but not a big deal.

Picture quality is great when the camera is steady, but the slightest movement will cause a lot of motion on the video. All pocket cams are like this though.

Overall, I think its a great camera. My last camcorder was the Sony DCR-SR40 if you want to see what I am comparing the Vado to.

If you have any other questions about this Pocket Cam, feel free to ask them in the comment section.
