Yet another problem with Twitter – People Can Now Make You Follow THEM!
I thought something was weird. I deleted all the people the I follow, down to zero. I planning on doing the same to my follower list. Twitter has been a big experiment to me. I’ve been running scripts on Twitter for a few months now across many accounts to see how much automation you can do.
You can actually do a lot of automation… but twitter has said they are going to cut down on bots… You probably got the email from Biz himself. Having techcrunch, mashable and readwriteweb post about a new twitter TOS wasn’t enough, he had to email you too.
Pretty sureĀ the reason for the new TOS emails from Biz was to check all the email bounces from fake emails in twitter accounts. Those accounts will be the first to go. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go start a new twitter account now and use any fake email you want. You can easily make hundreds of new twitter accounts a day, twitter doesn’t check.
Not sure how they will address the loophole that lets you make an account. Then when that account gets suspended, you can log in, rename it, and then go make a new account with the old twitter name… everything seems to work when doing this.
Bots are bad unless you are being followed by this sexy bot
I was checking my feedreader this morning and JohnChow made a keen observation… spammers have found a loophole that allows them to make you follow them.
I’m not sure how they do it, but it is happening. I’ve noticed it in my account too.
